April shows are happening!

This Friday (April 11th) I will be playing at the Middle East Corner for a Free Tibet Benefit.

Also, I will be playing a rare Celtic gig on Saturday April 26th at the French Club Hall in Waltham.  All the proceeds from this performance will go to the Mary Eagan Garden at Children’s Hospital Boston.

For more information on these shows, check out the live page.

I’ve been doing tons of writing and a wee bit of recording.  Fluttr Effect has been doing some serious recording at Belmeat Studios.  Pics coming soon.

Spring is upon us, go get some flowers and start taking your allergy meds!

I would also like to thank magic markers, my scanner, coffee, Cuban food and cotton balls.

Additional other stuff by Brendan Burns.
“No” photo by B. Burns.

Happy 2008!

Welcome in the new year (even if it is a month late) and kick the old one out of the bed!

I just recently recorded for Sarah Rabdau and for Grand Army.  I will let the world know when those albums make it out of the recording studio and into the world.

Vessela (of Fluttr Effect) and I have been recording some new demos for some recent songs of ours.  J Marchionna has been manning the console.  This demo will lay the tracks for an EP that Vess and I are planning on knocking out later this spring.  I will post some musical examples when all the pieces are in the right place.

Shows will be posted for March and April very soon.
It looks like my next public performance will be at the Lizard Lounge on March 7th for the Steamy Bohemians’ Jerkus Circus.

Links, coming soon.

After some hard work, Brendan Burns and I have got the Alpha stage of the site up and (nearly) running.

If you missed my April Fool’s debut of the site you can check it out here.

I’m out on tour to the Midwest and back most of this week with the infamous Fluttr Effect. You can check out the events calendar to see where we will be performing throughout the month.

In my absence, everyone in the Boston area should go check out the craziest cellist to ever exist *Rushad Eggleston* this Sunday April 8th @ Club Passim 47 Palmer St. Cambridge, Massachusetts. Go now!

takecare,

Important Update

(Note: Click Here to see the way the site looked on April 1st, & click Here to put it back to normal.)

It is time for me to follow my dreams!
I am going to India to pursue my true love and make Bollywood films.

With my guiding light, Shahruhk by my side, I know that no monsoon, ethnic/cultural conflict, or drought can stop me.

Below is a little film project I put together when I wasn’t busy pursuing that silly music thing (hah!)

I’ve been embarassed to share it before, but I can no longer deny the Valerie Thompson (soon to be Valerie Khan) that I am…

*Not bad for a rookie who knows no Hindi, eh?

Thank you for your love and support over the past few misguided years. Fear not that I will look at our shared experiences as a waste of time, energy and talent, as it has brought me to this place in my life where I could fully embrace my destiny, Bollywood!

Be beautiful and safe as I abandon you for the land of Gandhi, samosas, and Kama Sutra.

Peace,
Valerie Khan (formerly Valerie Thompson)
